Statement by Eric Linzer, HPA President and CEO

“New York’s health care costs are among the highest in the nation and the escalating cost of health care – driven by increases in the cost of prescription drugs and rising hospital prices – is a major challenge for consumers, employers and labor unions. We appreciate Governor Hochul’s attention to prescription drug affordability as it’s critical to hold Big Pharma more accountable for the exorbitant prices they charge.

“Health plans remain committed to working with the Administration on the state’s efforts to address and eliminate long-standing racial and ethnic disparities and take seriously their obligation to meet the behavioral health needs of all New Yorkers. We look forward to further details on these proposals and having an opportunity to work with the Governor, members of her Administration, and legislative leaders to tackle the factors driving the growth in health care costs so that coverage is more affordable.”
