Statement by Eric Linzer, HPA President and CEO

“Congratulations to Senator Jamaal Bailey on being named Senate Insurance Committee Chair, as well as to Senate Health Committee Chair Gustavo Rivera, Assembly Health Committee Chair Amy Paulin, and Assembly Insurance Committee Chair David Weprin on returning as chairs of their respective committees.

“The escalating cost of health care – driven by increases in the cost of prescription drugs and rising hospital prices – is a major challenge for consumers, employers and labor unions.  With the start of the 2025 legislative session, we look forward to working with the Insurance and Health Care chairs on measures to tackle the factors driving the growth in health care costs so that coverage is affordable for every New Yorker.”
